This skyscraper is located in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, scaling a height of 2,717 feet. It was completed in 2010 and is 700 feet above its nearest competitor. The building features an innovative design projecting the shape of its edges to cut through the wind to reduce turbulence and offer great stability.

Shanghai Tower

It is located in Shanghai, China. The Shanghai Tower is the tallest twisted building in the world. It is the second-tallest after the Burj Khalifa with a height of 2,073 feet or 632 metres. The building has 178 floors and serves as a hotel and has offices as well. The building was completed back in 2015.

Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel

The building is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is 1,972 feet tall. It was completed in the year 2012. It was built to provide comfortable accommodation to wealthy Muslim pilgrims making the Hajj. This factor contributed to the height of the building. It is supported by its broader base to give it a stabilizing effect.

Ping An Finance Centre

The Ping An Finance Centre is located in the special economic zone of Shenzhen, China. It was completed in 2017 and has a height of 1965 feet. It has 115 floors and was designed by American firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates that offers a modern approach to skyscrapers in China.

Lotte World Tower

The building is located in Seoul, South Korea. It has 123 floors designed by the Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and it became the first 100-story building in Korea. The steel building curves inwards as it rises, with glass used as a reminder of Korean ceramic history. It has a mix of retail, office, hotel, residence and event spaces filling up the tower. The building is 1819 feet tall.

One World Trade Centre

The skyscraper is located in New York City, in the United States. It was completed in 2014 and has a height of 1776 feet, a tribute to the birth year of the United States. The building proper is about 1300 feet. The CTBUH chose to count spires toward the building’s official height. It officially overtook the Willis Tower in Chicago as the tallest building in North America.

The skyscraper was officially launched in November 2009. The building’s design features a curved glass look which was achieved by using eight massive, strategically placed columns that provide support and stability. The design further provides more stability to the building in the event of an earthquake or any other seismic activity. The building stands at 1739 feet and is located in Tianjin, China. It towers over all the surrounding buildings.

The Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Finance Center, also known as the CTF Finance Center in Guangzhou, China, is worth mentioning standing at 1739 feet.

China Zun

This building is located in Beijing, China. China Zun is 1731 feet tall. It was fully topped out in 2017 and completed in 2018. The unique design of this building is from TFP Farrels and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and it features an inward curve as it rises, before curving again outward. The structure has 109 floors. The mixed-use building is a fresh perspective to Beijing skyscrapers.

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is located in Taipei, Taiwan. It is 1667 feet tall and was completed in 2004. The building has eight segments of eight floors each. It is designed like a pagoda which is common in Asia.

The building is located in Shanghai, China. It stands at a height of 1622 feet. The building was completed in 2008. It has 101 floors and hosts offices, hotel rooms, conference rooms and even shopping on the ground floor.

It is located in Hong Kong in China. It has a height of 1588 feet. The building was completed in 2010, a big gamble for its developers given its relative isolation from the rest of Hong Kong, but the gamble seems to have paid off. The mixed-use office and hotel building is almost fully occupied and has excellent in-building services such as a 24-hour concierge.

Wuhan Greenland Center

The skyscraper is located in Wuhan, China. It is estimated that construction will be completed in 2022. The building is at 1562 feet and has been in construction since June 2012. The building will feature hotel rooms, office space, banquet halls and even bike storage areas. The building was to be 2087 feet but had to be lowered due to air space restrictions.

It is located in New York at 217 W.57th St., Central Park. The skyscraper stands at 1550 feet and construction was completed in 2020. It is the tallest residential building in the world, housing a total of 179 condo units. The $3 billion projects is the second-tallest building in the United States and features an incredible view of Central Park.

Lakhta Center is located in St. Petersburg in Russia. It stands at 1516 feet. The building has a distinct design including thermal insulation via a double-glazed front to face the summertime heat and ice formation control system for the winter weather. It was completed in 2019.

It is located in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. It was completed in 2018 and stands at 1514 feet and has 81 floors. It is the tallest building in Vietnam designed by Atkins from Britain, the stair-stepping aesthetic of the building provides a distinct design and serves as the centrepiece of a new mixed-use neighbourhood.

Petronas Towers 1 and 2

The twin towers are located in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. A two-story sky bridge connects the towers at the 41st and 42nd floors further enhancing the structure’s iconic look. It was completed in 1998 and stands at 1483 feet.

The Changsha IFS tower T1 in Changla, China is also 1483 feet tall and is an honourable mention.

Zifeng Tower

The building is located in Nanjing, China. It has a height of 1476 feet and was completed in 2010. Zifeng Tower was designed by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture, the firm that also designed the Burj Khalifa.

The Suzhou International Financial Square (IFS) in Jiangsu, China is an honourable mention standing at 1476 feet.
